Specific Strategy

This page deals with my own personal experience as well as studious observations featuring champion teams. Strategy for each specific tournament is offered.

Layout: The tournaments are arranged in alphabetical order (Bazaar Burglary to Zugzwang’s Tournament). Trap/Cheese/Location for each tournament will be listed and a strategy brief below each.

NOTE: The Traps, Cheese and Charms listed are the BEST possible selections, not the only ones absolutely needed. If you have traps or charms that are slightly grades lower, they are acceptable too and you may fare well – just not the best for maximization of catch rates. For example, Brie can be a substitute to Super|Brie+ in some areas, except for Nerg, Derr, and Elub, where Gouda would be the second best choice.

Also, once you have satisfied yourself with the tournament you plan to participate in below, we HIGHLY recommend you to take a look at our “General Strategy” page, which discusses successful team tactics that should be put in use.

——————————————————————–

Bazaar Burglary

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Strong/Lucky Physical Trap (Chrome Drillbot or better)
Cheese: Gilded
Charm: Any Luck or Power Charm
Location: Bazaar

Strategical Notes: In this tournament, make sure at least 2-3 hunters have lots of gilded cheese in stock, at least enough to last throughout most of the tournament, as this is used to attract the Master Burglar Mouse, worth 50 points. Anyone who does not have gilded cheese should arm either Brie or Super|Brie+ (although in this case, your chances of placing high will fall by quite a margin).

——————————————————————–

Catacombs Competitors

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Arcane Blast Trap OR Acronym
Cheese: Ancient
Charms: Antiskele
Location: Catacombs

Strategical Notes: All hunters must be in the Catacombs to earn points. When there, arm the Arcane Blast Trap (preferably over the Acronym) with the luckiest base and Antiskele charms. Use strategies from the “General Strategy” page and you should be well off.

Added Verdict: Recommended for teams in which all team members meet trap/cheese/charm requirements.

——————————————————————–

Derr Tribal Hunting

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Sandstorm Monstrobot
Cheese: Crunchy
Charm: Any Luck or Power Charm
Location: Derr Dunes

Strategical Notes: In order to be successful in this tournament, it is advised that all hunters have Sandstorm Monstrobot and either Molten Shrapnel, Spellbook, or Golden Tournament Base. Arming Crunchy Cheese will attract the Chieftain and its protectors, which are worth quite a handful of points in this tournament.

——————————————————————–

Desert Market Mice

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Sandstorm Monstrobot (Best) OR Sandtail Sentinel (Weaker Alternative)
Cheese: Super|Brie+
Charms: Artisan
Location: Muridae Market

Strategical Notes: To get the optimal amount of tournament points, arm (lots) of artisan charms, as these are the only charms capable of attracting the “Artisans” (Blacksmith and Mage Weaver). The only mouse which has a point value above this is the Desert Nomad, which is still incredibly hard to attract.

Added Verdict: Recommended for Baron and above meeting trap/cheese/charm requirements. All  hunters must be at Muridae Market to earn points. Have at least 2 hunters with Sandstorm Monstrobot. The other two can have slightly weaker alternatives such as the Sandtail Sentinel.

——————————————————————–

Elub Tribal Hunting

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Oasis Water Node
Cheese: Shell
Charm: Any Luck or Power Charm
Location: Elub Shore

Strategical Notes: In this competition, at least 3 hunters should have Oasis Water Node. This makes capturing the “Big 3″ of the Elub tribe a much simpler task. Because these three mice are worth 20 points each, and are easier to attract than Elder Mice and Black Widows, this is the optimal strategy.

——————————————————————–

Forgotten Tournament

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Ancient Box Trap/ ACRONYM
Cheese: Runic/Ancient
Charms: Any Luck or Power
Location: Acolyte Realm/ Forbidden Grove

Strategical Notes: In order to be able to catch mice with high point values, you should join a Forgotten Tournament that begins right when the Forbidden Grove closes. This means that your team has to be in the Forbidden Grove before it closes. In the Forbidden Grove, arm ACRONYM and Ancient Cheese to catch a Realm Ripper Mouse. Once inside the Acolyte Realm, quickly arm Ancient Box Trap and Runic. Then catching Acolyte and Reaper mice will be the priority in order to win the Tournament.

——————————————————————–

Furoma Master Hunt

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Sphynx Wrath (Best) or Dimensional Box Trap (Weaker Alternative)
Cheese: Combat/Glutter/Susheese/Maki
Charm: Any Luck or Power Charm
Location: Meditation Room/Dojo

Strategical Notes: In order to be successful in this tournament, there are two options from which to proceed.

Option #1: Meditation Room

In the tournament, the Masters are worth 25 points, more than Students and Mojo/Sojo. In addition, arming Sphynx Wrath will allow a 70% catch rate for the Masters. Choose the Master that is easiest for you, as there is always one Master for everyone that they just cannot catch, or have trouble catching, and one Master that they can catch easily. Also, for improved results, use Super Luck charms or Super Power charms.

Option #2: Dojo

In the Dojo, the mice you are aiming for are not exactly the students. The students are good for points, but they are only worth 20 points, which isn’t as good as the Masters. These mice are easier to catch, but there is also one other mouse in the Dojo; the Assassin. This mouse is worth 100 points, by far the most amount of points in this tournament. However, this option is risky, and if you do not manage to attract/catch an Assassin, your efforts would be in vain.

Added Verdict: Recommended for Baron and above who have obtained at least the Dimensional Chest Trap. Either have all members in the Meditation Room with very powerful/lucky charms (Chrome/Ult Luck/Ult Power/Champion (ONLY with a tournament base)), or have at least 3 members hunt in the Dojo and the other in either the Meditation Room (with very powerful/lucky charms to ensure 90%+ catch rate) or the Dojo with the rest of the team.

High Seas Hunting Tournament

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Oasis Water Node
Cheese: Super|Brie+
Charm: Any Luck or Attraction Charm
Location: S.S. Huntington II

Strategical Notes: If you want to win, arm Super|brie+ and hope a Shelder Mouse comes – they are worth 300 points in this tournament. The strategy is fairly simple and just cross your fingers by arming the luckiest base and any charms you have.

——————————————————————–

Indigenous Mouse Hunting

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Physical Trap 4,000 Power or higher with 30+ luck (aka ~Chrome Drillbot and better)
Cheese: Radioactive Blue
Charms: Any Luck Charm
Location: Laboratory

Strategical Notes: Your target is the Monster Mouse worth 50 points. Stay in the Laboratory and use Radioactive Blue Cheese all throughout with your strongest and luckiest Physical Trap.

Added Verdict: Recommended for Hero and above meeting trap/cheese/charm requirements. Hunt continuously in the Laboratory with strong physical setups, Radioactive Blue Cheese, and luck charms.

——————————————————————–

Laboratory Potion Hunting

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: A Strong Physical Trap
Cheese: Super|Brie+ OR Brie (if no SB available)
Charms: Scientist’s Charm
Location: Laboratory

Strategical Notes: The mice that drop the Radioactive Blue Cheese Potions (namely Granite, Bionic, and Steel) are worth the most points, so you want to attract those. Arming the Scientist’s Charms will increase the chances of attracting one of those 3 mice. If you are wanting a high placement, it is recommended that you use SB+ in this tourney since FTAs will be absolutely disastrous with so many competitive teams.

——————————————————————–

Library Brawl Tournament

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: A Strong Physical or Tactical Trap
Cheese: Super|brie+
Charms: Charged Scholar ONLY for Zurreal. Otherwise, any Luck or Power Charm.
Location: Crystal Library

Strategical Notes: Make sure that at least one hunter has Zurreal’s Folly and some Charged Scholar Charms, since Zurreal the Eternal is worth 25 points, the 2nd most amount in the tournament. The rest of the hunters should arm Super|Brie+ with any strong Physical/Tactical trap, in hopes of catching an Aether Mouse, which is worth 100 points.

——————————————————————–

Lich Lookout

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Ancient Box Trap
Cheese: Vengeful Vanilla Stilton
Charms: Any Luck or Power Charm
Location: Balack’s Cove

Strategical Notes: Get all the hunters to Balack’s Cove and prepare for a hardcore showdown.

Verdict: Recommended for players well equipped with necessary traps and charms and experienced with location timing. Have all members in Balack’s Cove.

——————————————————————–

Mousoleum Mastery

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Reaper’s Perch
Cheese: Radioactive Blue
Charm: Any Power or Luck Charm
Location: Mousoleum

Strategical Notes: In this tournament, the strategy is limited. All you can do is hope that you can manage to attract/catch a Black Widow, Vampire, or Monster Mouse, since these mice are worth many more points than the rest.

——————————————————————–

Nerg Tribal Hunting

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Sphynx Wrath OR Dimensional Chest Trap (Weaker Alternative)
Cheese: Gumbo
Charm: Any Luck or Power Charm
Location: Nerg Plains

Strategical Notes: Hunters should arm the Sphynx Wrath if hoping to catch the top point earning mice in this tournament: the Chieftain, and its two protectors. Using Gumbo will ensure that you will attract these mice on nearly every hunt.

Added Verdict: Recommended for Baron and above with at least the Dimensional Chest Trap.

——————————————————————–

Slushy Showdown

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Steam Laser Mk.1 OR Oasis Water Node
Cheese: Super|Brie+
Charm: Softserve Charms
Location: Slushy Shoreline

Strategical Notes: Arm either the Steam Laser Mk. 1 or Oasis Water Node for best catch rate results with a high luck base and Softserve charms sold in the Charm Shoppe. The main strategy here is persistence mixed with a bit of luck on the side of catch rate probability.  The emphasis lies on team work and general strategical success, and thus our rules on the General Strategy page will greatly help.

Added Verdict: Recommended for Lord and above with at least one of the two traps listed above and Super|Brie+ usage throughout the entire tournament, due to the frequent Fail to Attract (FTA) occurrences of other types of cheese such as Gouda which will hinder team progress.

——————————————————————–

Subterranean Showdown

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Sandstorm Monstrobot
Cheese: Limelight
Charm: Mining Charms (Ronza 2012)
Location: Town of Digby

Strategical Notes: In this tournament, there are three mice that you will want to catch: the Big Bad Burroughs, Mole, and Nugget. These mice are worth 75 points each, and the next highest mouse is Subterranean, with a mere 10 points. Again, this tournament is one that relies a lot on luck, so cross your fingers and hope you catch one of those!

Ronza 2012: Mining charms were first released in January 31, 2012 when Ronza visited the kingdom. They will provide an unknown power bonus upon attraction of a “Subterranean mouse”.

——————————————————————–

Tribal Isle Grand Tournament

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Reaper’s Perch
Cheese: Any type of Havarti
Charm: Dreaded
Location: Jungle of Dread

Strategical Notes: In the Tribal Isle Grand Tournament, only 2 mice are worth more than the Jungle of Dread mice – Dragon and Balack. However,  these are extremes and very difficult to catch. By the time you catch one, the other teams would have already caught more than 4  JoD mice. As a result, it is good to have all team members in JoD using the Reaper’s Perch and Dreaded charms for maximization of catch rate.

Verdict: At least 3 members in JoD, and perhaps a very well-equipped high rank hunter in Balack’s Cove with the right charms and bonuses.

——————————————————————–

Warpath Marching

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Trap: Oasis Water Node/Sphynx Wrath/ACRoNYM/Sandstorm Monstrobot

Strategical Notes: There are several options for hunters, depending on which wave the hunters are on. Optimally, the hunters should start the tournament after they have caught all the physical mice in wave 3, and possibly most of the cavalry mice.

Option #1: Mages

In this tournament, there are a few mice you will be aiming for: the Mages, Artillery, Gargantuamouse, or the Wave 4 mice. The Mages will be the easiest to capture, and thus the surest way to earn points. Arm Oasis Water Node and Gouda/Super|Brie+, and arm either Warpath Mage Charms or Super Warpath Mage Charms.

Option #2: Artillery

For this option, make sure that you have caught all of the other mice in Wave 3. Then, arm Arcane Blast Trap or ACRoNYM with any Power or Luck Charm, and arm Gouda/Super|Brie+. The artillery is worth 1 more point each than the mages, but are harder to capture.

Option #3: Wave 4

For this option, it is best to have Sandstorm Monstrobot. Arm the Sandstorm Monstrobot with either Super Luck or Super Power Charms. Use Gouda/Super|Brie+, and just simply wait! While these mice are much harder to capture, they are worth 1 more point each than the artillery.

Overall, unless you want to take a chance, Option #1 would be the best choice.

Whisking through the Woods

Tournament Type: Standard

Basic Overview Strategy

Option #1

Trap: Chrome Tacky Glue + (Base with luck combination GREATER THAN or EQUAL to 30). If no CTGT, then Sphynx Wrath.
Cheese: Cherry
Charm: Attraction
Location: Calm Clearing

Strategical Notes: Your aim in this tournament is obviously the Cherry Mouse. Due to the fact that Cherry cheese does not have a very high attraction, the Chrome Tacky Glue Trap is an excellent buffer. Arm this with your highest luck base to ensure perfect catch rate. If you DO NOT have this limited edition trap, then arm the Sphynx Wrath with the highest attraction base and charm.

Option #2

Trap: Oasis Water Node
Cheese: Wicked Gnarly
Charm: Any Luck or Power Charm
Location: Lagoon

Strategical Notes: For this route, your team will follow an odd path – in the way that the mice here generally have low catch rates, but are worth a ton of points. If you do not have the Oasis Water Node, it is not suggested that you attempt this option.

Verdict: Both options are risky and luck is highly involved. For Option #1, the luck rests on the number of Cherry mice caught, while for Option #2 it rests on the catch rate of the mice. For Option #1, all members should be in the Calm Clearing with Cherry Cheese and a high attraction setup that still ensures a 100% catch rate. Please use The Catch Rate Estimator if you need help determining whether your setup ensures a flawless catch rate. For Option #2, use the Oasis Water Node and high luck base and charm. In a 4 player tournament, some try 2-2 in each location to split the odds, while some choose a straight path with all members in one area. The tide can always turn drastically in tournaments like this one, so out of the options we gave you, try one out and hope for the best!

——————————————————————–

Zugzwang’s Tournament

Type: Standard

Basic Overview:

Trap: Monstrobot/Sphynx Wrath/Reaper’s Perch/Oasis Water Node (Dependent upon season)
Cheese: Super|Brie+
Charms: Any Luck or Power Charm
Location: Seasonal Garden

Strategical Notes: To have the best results, start the Tournament when one or two players are about to catch a king/queen in the Zugzwang’s Tower. Make sure these players have ample checkmate cheese to catch the Chess Master. As of the other players, hunt in the Seasonal Garden with the best trap according to season.

Verdict: Recommended for Baron and above meeting trap/cheese/charm requirements. Have at least 2 hunters in the seasonal garden with the setup described above. Optional is to have one very well equipped hunter in Zugzwang’s tower (Ex: Hunter with Sphynx Wrath and Checkmate cheese).

No team can expect to do well in a FW tourney unless there players are already out of tier one. A tricky but rewarding strategy involves setting up long steaks before the tourney begins and having team members catch the garg mouse to start things out. 40 points to open this tourney is amazing, espessially if it is only six hours long.

      Thanks for your comment.

That seems to be a pretty good strategy, although there is a lot of risk involved, compared to taking Option #1 in our guide. Of course, it is very reasonable and we can include it in our guide if you’d like to elaborate a little more.

  2. Saim Dursun says :

An other note on FW tourneys.

Set up a long streak at wave 3; just before clearing all mouse other than mages and artillery. Start with 14 of the last group and hope that you do not FTC (you have to use sb+ all the way for this, or not try at all) . Arm super charms of the group, not normal. Stash enough super mage charms to last the tourn. If you are left with few mages, or if it is a long tourney get enough flamebane charms for artillery and wardens.

An other note on Mousoleum Mastery.
Use Undead emmertal if you have it; if possible for a temp team with such players and use UE all the way; go for 8-12 hour tourneys. You will have to ration those cheese.

    An extra note for all tourneys;
If you are low on supply, try not to waste it on trapchecks, switch to something else . and in order for this to go smoothly, start the tourney with a few minutes delay.

    • MastaPan says :

Thank you for your additional strategy. We will attempt to incorporate some in the upgraded and more detailed version of this page.

  3. Stanley Hoffman says :

For Desert Market, what about players with no SS or SSMB? SW or CDB? SBB or DJB?

    • MastaPan says :

If you have the Chrome Rhinobot, pair that with the Dragon Jade and you should have the best setup. Otherwise in your case, Sphynx Wrath + Dragon Jade + Artisan would be the optimal setup, followed by Chrome Drillbot + Dragon Jade + Artisan.
